Jay-Marie Hill (they/all) is a poet, doula, organizer, aunt, child of cyclists, educators and the offspring of a cross-country motorcycling grandmother. As a St. Louis-based, Black Gender Expansive artist shaped by California's 10,000 miles of bike paths, they sport twenty years of commuter bicycling, ten years of bicycle touring/bikepacking, and are known for expanding cycling-healthy community wherever they roll. Propelled by a lifelong commitment to Mobility and Disability Justice, and National Policy and Advocacy work, their resume spans forming a St. Louis’ queer, trans & sex worker statewide organizing coalition, to teaching and coaching youth organizers and performing artists from St. Louis to San Francisco.
Self-taught Bassist and Saxophonist since their youth, they write, perform, and release music available on Bandcamp and all streaming purchases as Jay-Marie is Holy, including their latest single, Ride For It (Know U), that combines their love of biking, with a badass bass line and longing lyrics towards more rounds. They have co-founded multiple organizations that help our world transcend the traditional, includin 2019’s Black Trans Bike Experience, which launched as a 160-mile bikepacking trip from historic Black & Trans cities Philadelphia, Baltimore, and ended at the first ever Trans March on Washington, D.C.
From Foco Fondo, to Red Bike & Green ATL in ‘22, and as a member of the 2024 class completing the historic 260-mile 1928 Legacy Tour (offered by Major Knox Adventures), Jay-Marie is an avid cyclist eager to bring more people into this welcoming and lifelong world. Gemini Sun, Virgo moon, & Scorpio rising, they show no signs of stopping in their work to equip their audiences to dream bigger, question better, and love harder.

Please see below for a full layout of schedule!
We lead optional group rides throughout the retreat to allow you to explore this beautiful part of Vermont more fully! If you cannot travel with a bike, you will be 100% fine, though! Not everyone chooses to join the rides and there are loads of off-the-bike workshops throughout the weekend, boating and swimming to do, napping in hammocks, etc.
We heard feedback last year that folks wanted beginner-friendly routes, and also some people wanted a longer adventure around Vermont, so we are excited to launch a more diverse range of group ride routes this year to accommodate everyone's level of dificulty!
We can shuttle people to the rail trail for a flat and chill-paced ride in addition to our group rides that leave from the property. We also will be breaking into smaller groups to allow for different riding speeds during group rides.
For those of you looking for a hard workout, get excited for a much longer crusher ride on Sunday from 8am-3pm. This will be hilly, beautiful, and organized by our crew of experienced ride leaders. Expect a faster pace and amazing adventures!
Friday group ride: approx 2 hrs
Saturday group ride: one beginner-friendly ride (shorter) and one medium-difficulty ride (approx 3 hrs)
Sunday group ride: ride options ranging from a shorter beginner-friendly route, a moderate-paced ride, and one long ride that will take up a large chunk of the day.
